Yes, Mother’s Day is almost upon us, and for everyone’s who ready, #highfive.

For everyone else, good luck and start reading this post. It’s going to be a long one, but at least I can safely say you’ll have enough options to mull over before deciding which would be the best gift for Mummy Dearest.

And because it’s going to be a long post (ok, the truth is I’m still finalising all the gift options), here’s the first one, For the Mum Who Adores Anything Cute. Which I’ll then follow up in the coming days with For The Mum Who Wants A Tiny Number (Bag), For The Mum Who Needs A Workhorse Wallet, For The Mum Who Likes Her Bling and of course, For The Mum Who Already Has Everything Else.

Without further ado, here’s today’s post. Enjoy.
For the Mum Who Adores Anything Cute
Yes, Mummy might not be young anymore, but she’s young at heart and you know, has a good sense of humour too. And because which mother doesn’t love tea or remember the days when Wrigley’s chewing gum was freely available in Singapore, the first two picks are both clutches, the first from Kate Spade New York, their new Down The Rabbit Hole English Tea Clutch (SGD570, buy online via Kate Spade) that’s mostly metallic PVC with 14K gold-plated hardware. And then there’s Anya Hindmarch’sWrigley’s Spearmint Gum clutch that’s now 60% off over at THEOUTNET. WasUSD1595, now USD638, which also makes it a good deal, no?

Yes, this is still gift ideas for the Mum who loves anything cute, and nothing can be cuter than Fendi’s bug-eyed wallet. Measuring 19 cm by 12 cm, it’s basically a wallet-on-chain with enough card slots, zip compartment, patch pockets and a long metal chain that’s actually the sling (USD1102, buy online via Net-A-Porter). Then there’s the Powerpuff Girls iPhone cases by Moschino. Yes, I know, too cute, right? Still, it’s guaranteed to bring a smile to most anyone’s face, and beside the one in Blue you see above, Moschino Paragon also has the ones in Green, in both iPhone6 and iPhone6Plussizes. And at SGD90 each, you really can’t complain.

And for something really affordable, the cutest post-its I’ve ever seen, the EUR14 a box Paperways sticky notes that you can get from Colette. If you’re really getting the cheap post-its, make sure you get a nice card too, like this one from The Paper Bunny which costs just SGD5.90.

For The Mum Who Loves Her Bling
As promised, here’s part two of the 5-part post. And no, you won’t go broke trying to please Mum either. From the small and the classic to the large and the modern, here are 5 icons from the world of fine jewellery that even the fussiest of mothers will love.

Choose from Cartier’s Juste en Clou pink gold beauty (SGD5500, view more online via Cartier) to these lovely new Infinity rings from Tiffany & Co. in 18K rose or yellow gold (SGD3600 each), all of which come with a nice tiny sprinkling of brilliant diamonds for that added bling. Then there’s the Perlée rings from Van Cleef & Arpels (another favourite of mine, by the way) that are true classics in their own right, which can be worn singly or stacked, and depending on your budget, you could easier get her one or a pair (SGD1850 each).

For mums who prefer chunkier pieces with a little more heft, there’s Bulgari’s newB.zero1 ‘Perfect Mistake’ 3-gold ring, a stunner that retails for SGD4010. Last, but by no means least, for the mother who loves everything Chanel, how about the new Coco Crush rings that come in Beige Gold? Available in 2 different widths, these start fromSGD3080 apiece, with its signature look being all about the quilting you see on the rings.

Chanel Coco Crush 2016 Collection

Jewelry & Watches

IMAGE: CHANEL

Yes, Coco’s back. More specifically, those Coco Crush rings that frankly I still have a huge crush on. While last year’s launch only saw the debut of the rings in White orYellow golds, 2016’s collection features a new gold alloy exclusive to Chanel, the Beige Gold. Coco Chanel once said about her third preferred colour, ‘I go back to beige because it’s natural’. Think of it as a paler, more subtle variation of the traditional yellow gold, but no less feminine than say, the rose golds of today.

Available in two widths, the #CocoCrush rings in Beige Gold come in Small andMedium, with prices starting from SGD3080. And then there are these, the Coco Crushrings in the same two widths in 18K white gold that come almost completely covered in pavé diamonds, truly fine jewellery pieces that are both desirable and heirloom-worthy.

Sold exclusively at Chanel’s Fine Jewellery & Watch boutique located within Ngee Ann City, you can now check out all 4 rings, along with the ones from last year’s launch, before deciding which crush you still love the most.

NEW Apple Watch Hermes Colors for Spring

Jewelry & Watches

We all knew Apple was innovative, but we didn’t know they kept up with the fashion calendar too! Apple is rolling out four new wristband colors for the Apple Watch Hermes for Spring. New colors include Bleu Paon (Green), Bleu Saphir (Navy Blue), Blanc (White) and Hermes’ iconic orange, called Feu. The new collection will be available April 19th. This is the first time you will be able to buy the Hermes leather wristband separately from the Apple Watch itself.

Apple and Hermes started the Hermes Apple Watch collaboration last fall, and the duo has proven to be a great match. The original Apple Watch comes in three styles, the Single Tour, Double Tour, and Cuff, and in four classic colors, Fauve (Tan), Noir (black), Bleu Jean (Blue), Capucine (Red), and Etain (Gray). The new collection of wristbands shows the duo’s dedication to giving the consumer more options to personalize their watch and pair it with even more looks.  If you weren’t sold on the Hermes Apple watch the first time around, you now have at least four more reasons to jump on the bandwagon. Better yet, the Apple Watch Hermes is now available online so you can easily give into your temptation!

Apple Watch Hermes Band Prices

Apple Watch Hermes Band Price in USD
Single Tour $340
Double Tour $490
Cuff $690

Let’s do some handbag math for the Apple Watch Hermes….

Being able to buy bands separately, will not only give you more style options but also more buying options. For example, purchasing a Apple Watch Hermes Single Tour with the watch and band will cost $1,100 total. However, if you purchase a Hermes Single Tour band ($340) and the Apple Watch Sport ($299), this only adds to $639, which is about $461 or about 42% percent less than the original Apple Watch Hermes combination. Depending on your tech needs, the more affordable Apple Watch Sport might be the better option for you anyway!

Do any of these new Apple Watch Hermes colors for Spring catch your eye?

Hermès reveals gorgeous Faubourg Manchette Joaillerie watches at Baselworld

This year’s Faubourg Manchette Joaillerie watches combine that signature broad leather cuff with gem-studded bezels and precious stone dials. At first the leather craftsman assembles the cuff strap using the saddle-stitching technique, making three double stitches at each end of the seam before rubbing down the sharp edges and pressing a furrow between the seam and the edge of the leather. The strap contour is dyed and then heat-smoothed with a soldering iron, in an operation known as burnishing. To finish, it is waterproofed with beeswax.

Next, the watch case’s hollowed out bezel is fitted with 36 precisely cut baguette set gems, color coordinated to the color of the strap. Green straps twinkle with emeralds while blue and brown straps get sapphires in matching hues. The classic black strap gets clear, crystalline diamonds. Even the dials are made from precious gems, green malachite, blue lapis lazuli, amber tiger’s eye and black onyx are each set with four diamonds at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 indices. The colored variants feature rose gold cases and pin buckles while the black one uses white gold.

Jacob and Co. unveils the incredibly complicated Astronomia Sky Celestial Panorama Gravitational Triple Axis Tourbillion

Jewelry & Watches

Astronomia-sky

As Jacob Arabo, founder of Jacob & Co. puts it, “As a sailor heading toward the seas driven by the celestial vault, I found my star: the Astronomia Sky.” He speaks of the highly complicated Astronomia Sky Celestial Panorama Gravitational Triple Axis Tourbillion that already has us in raptures.

The complications surpass those of the Astronomia Tourbillion by adding a brand new complication in the form of the sidereal display in 3D and an oval indicator and 24-hour day and night display. The sidereal display cloaks the surface of the case and synchronizes with the actual time taken by the earth to rotate around the sun. The splendid motion is captured on a grade 5 18-karat gold star-studded titanium dial, which also finds room to accommodate hand-crafted zodiac signs. The oval sky indicator displays the portion of stars visible from the Northern Hemisphere and completes a complete rotation in a single sidereal day. Day and night is indicated by a lacquered hand-engraved titanium globe that rotates and is surely the most endearing component of the entire movement.

Finally we come to the triple axis gravitational tourbillion, which is one of the four satellite arms that rotate in continuous time intervals, thus painting a different picture each time you look at the watch. It is accompanied by another satellite that indicates the hours and minutes and an Orbital second hand. The fourth satellite is hand indicates the patented Jacob Cut red moon, which appears to be an orange sphere sapphire. The time can be set with the help of a pair of bows. One for setting the time and the other to control the mechanical movements.

The Astronomia Sky Celestial Panorama Gravitational Triple Axis Tourbillion is truly a sight to behold and among our favorites this Baselworld. This masterpiece took 3,300 and 30 experts to put together. An effort that is commendably visible.

Roksanda Launches a Jewelry Line

Jewelry & Watches

Serbian-born and now London-based Roksanda Ilincic, founder of Roksanda, finally launches a thrilling jewelry line, the experimental spirit and geometrical cuts of which perfectly resemble Ilincic’s traditional style. Roksanda’s first jewelry collection is getting unveiled exclusively at the designer’s Mount Street store in Mayfair, London, on Monday, November 30th. However its pieces officially made their actual debut at theRoksanda spring 2016 show during London Fashion Week earlier this September, leaving everyone speechless.

Roksanda Launches a Jewelry Line

If you are one of those who couldn’t wait for Roksanda to finally sell her iconic jewelry pieces, get ready to spend from $770 to $1,042 to get a piece. The collection consists of gold-plate bracelets, necklaces, earrings and even brooches, and is surely to be remembered as a great debut line. The graphic modernist fashion designer, who has just celebrated her house’s 10-year fashion anniversary, has thus finally explored another side of her creativity, taking great source of inspiration from her latest ready-to-wear collection.

Roksanda, like a contemporary Piet Mondrian (one of the founders of the modern movement De Stijl), simplifies the elements of her creations for this collection, preferring simples lines and shapes, like rectangles and triangles, and making each one of her pieces a one-of-a-kind item. Moreover, thanks to the asymmetrical balances utilized, Roksanda’s jewelry collection makes it possible to combine sophisticated lines with unconventional designs. Like Mondrian himself, Roksanda also seems to categorize the world in vertical and horizontal elements, at times interrupting them with some fancy diagonal and wavy patterns. Doing so, she definitely proves to be one of the greatest abstract art champions of the modern times.

It is also interesting to notice how this jewelry collection strongly reminds us of Roksanda’s educational pathway, whose first direction originally brought the 38-year-old fashion designer to major in architecture at the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade.

The appeal of Ilincic’s pieces has always lied in her incredible craftsmanship and sophisticated lines, whose delicacy has so far charmed many celebrities and royalties such as the Duchess of Cambridge, Michelle Obama and Tilda Swinton. Such elegant lines will thus still play a huge role in the fashion industry thanks to this new experiment of hers, once again confirming why she has become a must-seen, as well as a habitué at any London Fashion Week.

Roksanda Ilincic’s debut jewelry collection may also be a turning point for the designer herself, who always had jewelry design in mind. According to one of her latest statements, we could expect even more jewelry collections from the brand: “I am big jewellery collector, and designing jewellery has always been something I wanted to do. After the opening of my Mount Street store it felt like it was the right time, and I was interested to explore this new category,” the designer told WWD.

If you are in London, make sure not to miss Roksanda’s newest debut!
